Debate Club
The debate club is great place for students to explore the art of "organized arguing." Students in debate club tend to enjoy discussing current issues and if they don't already have a strong voice and good presentation skills, they will learn these abilities in a fun, safe club environment. Students learn to create factual/logical, ethical and emotional arguments to persuade others in the club that their "side" is correct. The club uses the formal debate format. The club's purpose is to teach and train students in the fundamentals of debate and public speaking. We do the following:
* Educate students about the art of speech and debate
* Train students to be more confident speakers and debaters
* Help each other build leadership skills and improve individual responsibility
* Teach students to work collaboratively
* Speech and debate skills help students to thrive academically and provides them with an advantage in their careers.

National Honor Society
The National Honor Society is composed of four guiding pillars of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. Initial eligibility into PMSA’s chapter of the National Honor Society is determined by the Scholarship component. Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.7 to be initially eligible. Once those students are identified, they are asked to submit additional information in the remaining areas. The Faculty Council (comprised of five PMSA faculty members) then reviews the applications and determines who is best qualified for membership in the National Honor Society. Once students are inducted into the National Honor Society, the pillars of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character continue to be promoted through events such as peer tutoring, charity events, and group service projects.
ROBOTICS
The varsity Sport for the Mind, The Robotics Club combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. Please contact John Wardisiani [email protected] for club information, competition dates and upcoming events.
